Now that’s Super! The First Time Donor’s Super Credit that is
The budget is out! The budget is out!
OK, so it wasn’t as exciting as our latest newsletter, but this year’s Canadian federal budget has some GREAT news for anyone thinking about donating to our theatre!
If you haven’t made any charitable donations since 2007, your $1000 donation to the Civic Theatre may only cost you $460 after your tax credit thanks to the new First Time Donor’s Super Credit!
“The budget introduces a temporary First-time Donor’s Super Credit (FDSC) that can be claimed by first-time donors only once in a taxation year after 2012 and before 2018. The FDSC is an additional 25% tax credit (on top of claiming the Charitable Donations Tax Credit (CDTC)) on up to $1,000 of donations made after March 20, 2013. An individual is a first time donor if neither the individual nor the individual’s spouse or common-law partner has claimed the CDTC or FDSC in any taxation year after 2007.” – via www.pwc.com
That’s a bit like the government matching a $500 donation from you dollar-for-dollar!
Like all new tax legislation, the devil is in the details, but the important thing is if you haven’t claimed a charitable contribution since 2007, we invite you to make a donation to our project today to take advantage of this new incentive!
All donations made through the city are eligible for a tax credit, and your $1000 gift might only cost you $460! How can you make a donation? Click here for details
