The Pitch (Dec. 18 – 24)
Help Me J.J. Abrams, You’re My Only Hope!
The first reference to “The true meaning” of Christmas can be found in The American magazine, vol. 28 (1889); “To give up one’s very self — to think only of others — how to bring the greatest happiness to others — that is the true meaning of Christmas”. Well J.J., let’s hope that you heeded, when crafting the latest Star Wars installment, the values of the season and the countless lessons learned from the unfortunate mistakes from Episodes – I through III. Did you sublimate your artistic ego, J.J., for the universal truth of the cultural experience of the original trilogy? Did you think only of the fans whose whole childhood was defined by this cultural phenomenon? Did you focus on how you could best bring them the greatest happiness when they behold your effort? J.J., may this film be like the petals from Zu Zu’s flower found in George Bailey’s pocket re-affirming that it is indeed A Wonderful Life, here and in a Galaxy Far Far Away. May the force be with you.
