Annual Events
We invite our whole community to take part in the following Annual Events:
Zombie Walk
Each year, just before Halloween, the Zombies come out for their annual stroll through downtown Nelson.
With the talent of make up artists, the undead mob is created in our lobby, then led through the downtown core by a New Orleans Funeral band (Courtesy of the Oxygen Orchestar) before returning to the theatre for a free and ghoulish film.
Home for the Holidays
Winter Celebration of Family and Friends (December)
Early December, this all-ages family event invites audiences to join us for an afternoon of classic films and a visit from Santa.
This event is free, but food donations to The Food Cupboard are collected.
New Year's Eve Pajama Party (December)
New Year’s Eve at The Civic is a family affair!
Kids and parents alike, all in pajamas, are invited to enjoy a dry and family-friendly evening of film, pizza, noisemaker crafts, and a countdown to midnight, complete with a bubbly toast (of sparkling apple juice).
Academy Awards Live Stream (February)
All ages welcome. See it on the BIG screen, just like the movies! Join us at the theatre for the Academy Awards Ceremony.
