The Pitch (Aug. 12 – 18)
We finally found Dory! … and our alternative programming!
The wait is over. Finding Dory (rated G) swims through The Civic starting this Friday – Tuesday. The friendly but forgetful blue tang fish begins a search for her long-lost parents, and everyone learns a few things about the real meaning of family along the way.
Also happening this week – The return of Doc Wednesday and Thursday Night Movie!!!
On Wed. Fug. 17th we play the August contribution to the Documentaries of the Spirit series Life Animated, winner of best documentary direction at Sundance. A perfect pairing for Finding Dory, as it is a coming of age story about ayoung autistic man and his family who overcame great challenges by turning Disney animated movies into a language to express love, loss, kinship and brotherhood.
Thursday see’s the return of the lovable Greta Gerwig. Maggie’s Plan (PG) to have a baby on her own is derailed when she falls in love with John, a married man, destroying his volatile marriage to the brilliant and impossible Georgette. But one daughter and three years later, Maggie is out of love and in a quandary: what do you do when you suspect your man and his ex wife are actually perfect for each other?
Up next: Ghostbusters on the split with Bad Moms (TBC) and Eat That Question for our doc Wed (TBC) and Captain Fantastic for our Thursday night movie.
