What’s playing @ the Civic (Sept. 5 – 11)
When I say fine French or Indian Cuisine, what do you say? “Yes Please!” Bring your appetites for The Hundred-Foot Journey (rated PG) playing as the weekend and Tuesday feature. And after the creamy sauces and spicy curries you may feel like you could drink a river. On Wednesday, Sept. 10, Eco Society and Borderline Boaters Club present DamNation which explores the growing awareness that our future is bound to the life and health of our rivers. With stunning imagery and intimate interviews, the film reveals the profound impact of dams on nature and society, and explores the successful efforts to remove dams and restore salmon populations. Can I have that glass of water from a wild river please?
This Thursday brings us an indi film paired with the latest from one of the pioneers of the rising indi film productions of the 90’s. An unexpected pregnancy in Obvious Child* lands a twenty-something comedian Donna Stern facing independent womanhood head on for the Thursday early slot. Robert Rodriguez, director of the indi-masterpiece El Mariachi, where he actually sold his body to science trials to raise much of the funds needed for production, helms the sequel to Frank Miller’s Sin City. Sin City: A Dame to Kill For plays for one night only for the Thursday late slot.
*Not fully confirmed yet.
