A Family New Year’s Eve at The Civic Theatre
Ring in the New Year with your family at The Civic Theatre!
Everyone is welcome to our all-ages family pajama party, taking place at 8:00pm on Wednesday, December 31 at the Civic Theatre. Doors open at 7:00pm: join us early to make a noisemaker for the big event, then enjoy a screening of The Book of Life before pizza and other exciting screenings, games and prizes leading up to the midnight countdown. This is a dry event, and everyone is welcome.
Still have questions? We have answers!
Do I have to wear my pajamas?
No, of course not. But if you are bringing kids with you, you may want to take advantage of this invitation – we thought it would help to be able to just roll them straight into bed after midnight.
I don’t have kids. Can I wear my pajamas?
Of course! In fact, we’ll be giving out a prize for the best pajamas (adult and kid categories!).
So there’s pizza – great! Will The Civic’s concession be open too?
Yes – you’ll still be able to buy all the usual things. Don’t forget to bring cash though if you plan to buy popcorn.
Will there be bubbly? Other alcoholic drinks?
This is a dry, all-ages event, and we want to keep it family-friendly, so no, there won’t be a wet bar or champagne. But we’re all over the bubbly, so we’ll have sparkling apple juice for the big event.
Can I bring my own bottle of bubbly?
No, and please don’t. We aren’t licensed and we’ll have to ask you to give it up. There are lots of other parties in town that night, so if this is important to you for New Year’s, please consider one of the other events taking place.
Can I drop off my teens and go to a party myself?
Yes, but please know that supervision will be the same as at a normal movie – there is no child-minding service available at this event. Also, our event ends right at midnight, so please be prepared to pick up your teens at that time or otherwise make arrangements for them to get home safely.Because we occasionally have rowdy teen and young adult groups come to the theatre, it is worth noting that we expect everyone to be respectful of other patrons’ experiences, and, if necessary, we will ask patrons causing disturbances to leave.
What happens at midnight?
We are going to live-stream the best West Coast New Year’s Eve celebration we can find and countdown with all the noise and excitement that would come with being right there. Except we’ll be indoors, warmer, and well, in our pajamas. And then that’s it – off to bed!
Ok, so how do I get tickets?
Tickets are available online and can be purchased for kids, adults or a family of 4 (2 adults, 2 children). If you need more than 4 tickets, you can add additional child or adult tickets to your cart.
I have other questions. Who can I contact?
Email us at boxoffice@civictheatre.ca. We’ll get back to you promptly.
