Bad Neighbors, cats and cricket bats

The combination may sound like a colourful character from the Commonwealth about to end up in jail for animal cruelty, but in fact, it is just a taste of the next fun filled week at the Civic. Always colourful, the Civic is continuously beating the bush with our cricket bat to flush out programming that spills out of the box and this time, more than a few cats came scurrying over the top.

After Seth Rogen settles his differences with his new Neighbors (rated 18A) and we travel across the globe along side Jon Hamm (Mad Men’s Donald Draper) to find the next major league pitcher on the Indian cricket pitch in Million Dollar Arm (rated G) we will leave our isolated computer screens and watch the phenomenon that is internet cat videos as god intended them to be watched – together. Come witness the Brooklyn Walker Arts Centre curated festival that has taken major American and Canadian cities by storm.

Nelson may be the smallest centre on the Just For Cats: Internet Cat Video Festival roster, but we sure aren’t going to be the quietest.  We have an amazing line up of live acts by local and imported cool cats to entertain you along side all the feline stars of the internet cat genre.  The evening will be hosted by the funniest man in Nelson and our recent Cultural Ambassador, Lucas Myers and feature a frisky dance number by the Show Cats, cat scratching by DJ’s Sweets & Morninglory of Meow Mix, live painting from Avrell Fox and a far out performance from our special guest from Toronto, recently off tour with the Barneked Ladies, the purrrrty kitty of the Theremin, Clara Venice.  All proceeds go to helping the local SPCA.  See the event post for further detail.
