Next up at the Civic (Mar. 14 – Mar. 20)
Spring forward your clocks and get ready for a Spring Break of matinees for the kids and a special presentation of The Husband, the latest from Canadian cult hero Bruce McDonald and starring Nelson’s own Sarah Allen (here in person.)
After a Non-Stop flight with action star Liam Neeson, who must discover who is responsible for a series of text messages threatening his fellow passengers unless the airline transfers $150 million into an off-shore account, we head into a spring break of family friendly movies.
Sing along with all your favourite charachters from Disney’s Academy Award winning Frozen in a special sing along version of the movie on Monday at 2pm. Because once isn’t enough, come and take part in another build with the bricks in The Lego Movie and be sure to visit the Jurassic period in the visually stunning Walking With Dinosaurs.
And star time shines its light on the newly minted Civic on Wednesday Mar. 19 with a special screening of Bruce McDonald’s (Roadkill, Highway 61, Hard Core Logo and many more) The Husband. Henry is married, has a son, and a decent job in advertising. Trouble is, his wife, played by local actress Sarah Allen, is in jail for sleeping with a 14 year-old boy. Struggling to keep it together and prepare for her release, a chance encounter with the boy – his rival – sends Henry on a path of self destruction.
And to keep the diversity flowing in, and for another story of complicated family dynamics we travel to France for The Past. Coming back to accomplish the divorce procedure, Ahmad an Iranian man, arrives in Paris after four years to meet his ex-wife and her daughters from her previous marriage. He notices his ex is in a relationship with an Arab named Samir who also has a son and a wife in a coma. The relationship of the older daughter and her mother is in deterioration because the daughter thinks her mother is the cause of Samir’s wife comatose state. The affairs get more complicated when the older daughter discloses something heinous she has done.
Vive le cinema!
