Tomorrowland, Ex Machina and The Big Lebowski?

A place located somewhere between time and space and a beautiful A.I. woman for sure, but how does The Big Lebowski connect? Drink a drugged Caucasian mixed by Jackie Treehorn and when you wake up tomorrow, ask me again.

Kootenay Coop Radio wraps up another membership drive by presenting the cult classic that takes the confused plot of The Big Sleep to its absurd limits.  The Big Lebowski, arguably one of the greatest cult films and my personal favourite from hermanos Cohen, became one of 650 “culturally, historically or aesthetically significant” films preserved for future generations through the Library of Congress’ National Film Registry in 2014.  So on June 10th, “give KCR the money Lebowski”.  Oh, and I heard Jackie Treehorn might be there.

Running over the weekend starting June 5th and Tuesday, Brad Bird, creator of Iron Giant and The Incredibles will grab hold of your imagination with Tomorrowland (rated PG). 

On Thursday, June 11th, we bring in one of my most anticipated films this season, Ex Machina (rated PG). Caleb, a 26 year old coder at the world’s largest internet company, wins a competition to spend a week at a private mountain retreat belonging to Nathan, the reclusive CEO of the company. But when Caleb arrives at the remote location he finds that he will have to participate in a strange and fascinating experiment in which he must interact with the world’s first true artificial intelligence, housed in the body of a beautiful robot girl.  Thoughtful sci-fi in the realm of Blade Runner, Solaris, 2001, Ghost in the Shell and Moon. 92% on Rotten Tomatoes.
