This Week at the Civic (Oct. 10 – Oct. 16 )

A truly eclectic mix this week at the Civic.

An innocent lie shatters a quiet kindergarten teachers life in our Thursday film from Denmark. The Hunt (Rated 14A) directed by Thomas Vinterberg, the acclaimed director of The Celebration won Mads Mikkelsen a best actor award at this year’s Cannes Film Festival.

Some of you may know of him as the narrator from Arrested Development and others may know him is Richie Cunningham, the Fonze’s landlord by proxy, and still others may know him is Andy Griffith’s knee high side kick Opie, but Ron Howard is also a celebrated director.  Rush (Rated 14A) directed by Opie Cunnigham, tells the exciting story of the merciless 1970s rivalry between Formula One rivals James Hunt and Niki Lauda.  Opening this Friday.

Also opening on Friday is one of the top praised films at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival, Don Jon (Rated 18A) is penned, directed and acted by Joseph Gordon-Levitt.  Scarlett Johansson, co-stars in this romantic comedy about a man who develops unrealistic expectations from watching porn and works to find happiness and intimacy with his potential true love.
