More Than Movies - The Civic Theatre

The Civic Theatre has a vision to be a place that is home to far more than movies. We have a plan to not only show the best in independent, art, documentary, and popular film, but to also feature and support local work and local screen-based artists. We are keen to develop our profile and role as a local centre for dialogue – bringing great ideas into our community, and also building ways to tell local stories and present local knowledge to the world using our fibre optic connection.

Community Programming

The Civic Theatre is more than just a movie theatre – we are a community activator with a goal to ensure access to film and offer educational opportunities to audiences of all ages. In our short history, we have offered support to more than 50 community organizations through affordable rentals and advertising, donated tickets, and technical advice. We also love to bring our community together to celebrate. Check out our Annual Events and Signature Parties page for more information. Looking to the future, we are growing opportunities for daytime education and programming, focusing on bringing new ideas to our community through technology, and sharing with other communities as well. We are currently developing our Community Curators program as well as a Youth Program.

We are a young organization and our community programming is still developing, so new programs will continue to be added as our capacity grows. Stay tuned!
